Airbus announced on March 14th that it had rolled out Skymark Airlines' (BC/SKY) first Airbus A380-841, to be registered JA380A on delivery, fitted with Rolls-Royce Trent 900 engines.
The next phase will be a series of functional tests on the ground as it prepares for first flight. Japan's third largest carrier is expected to take delivery of the first in August or September.
Skymark will place the all-double-deck jetliner on the Tokyo/Narita (NRT/RJAA) - New York/John F. Kennedy (JFK/KJFK) route, which the airline is "trying hard for a launch before Christmas this year", according to President and CEO Shinichi Nishikubo.
